 that gamers in New Zealand (where the game is getting an early launch 
on iOS) are finding it positively stuffed with in-app purchases</div>

The game apparently includes just about every kind of IAP scheme you 
can think of. It's got the dual-currency system for upgrades and kart 
purchases: coins and gems, the latter of which you can buy with real 
money. It's got a time-based wait system, most frustratingly 
demonstrated with EA's Real Racing 3: your bird gets tired after five 
races, after which you'll have to either tag in another bird, pay Gems 
to "re-energize" it, or wait until it's ready to go again. And if that 
wasn't enough, Angry Birds Go uses the Hasbro Telepod system for zapping
 in unlockable characters and bonuses with toys from your local 
retailer, in the same vein as Skylanders and Disney Infinity. This was 
previously seen in <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/09/18/new-game-angry-birds-star-wars-ii-hits-the-play-store-with-prequel-based-characters-and-telepod-toy-integration/">Angry Birds Star Wars II</a>.</div>

It might seem obvious from the fact that Rovio has turned Angry Birds
 into a world-striding colossus of a mobile franchise, but they really 
don't seem to care any more. Angry Birds Go shows all the symptoms of a 
game and a developer that are interested in wringing as much real cash 
out of gamers as possible. The in-app purchases for Gems have the usual 
markups, and gamers can purchase upgraded karts directly - the most 
expensive and presumably fastest is a full £69.99 or $99.99. This kind 
of extravagance isn't unusual from developers who wouldn't know 
restraint if it smacked them with a two-by-four, but it's disheartening 
to see it from a developer that was previously so reasonable. </div>

It's a shame, too: Rovio delivers rock-solid games with reliably 
balanced mechanics, and Angry Birds Go is their most ambitious technical
 project to date. If anyone can get the casual crowd into a racing game,
 it's them. But I predict that Rovio will have a lot of frustrated fans 
on their hands after the first few racing rounds, much like EA did with 
Real Racing 3. And if they continue down this path, we'll be looking at 
new Rovio releases with the same tired cynicism as Glu and Gamevil. </div>

Chromecast has been slowly but steadily adding support from major media apps since it launched: Hulu Plus, Pandora, and HBO GO

There's not much to it: the feature is just a list of the seven apps 
mentioned above, plus an embedded "how to cast" video at the top. But 
it's showing up even on phones and tablets that don't have the 
Chromecast app installed, which would seem to indicate that Google is 
interested in promoting its miniature streaming wonder. It's also a 
positive indication (though by no means a conclusive one) that Google 
intends to keep expanding the selection of Chromecast-compatible apps. 
That being said, it's a bit odd to see that the Chromecast app itself is
 not included in the list. </div>

Swordigo. As is traditional with the Humble Bundle, paying above the 
average price gets you the full selection of games, as well as 
additional content in the future. Well, the future is now and Humble 
Bundle has added three more titles and soundtracks to the deal. </div>

The popular game Hundreds is in the new set, which if you're not 
aware, is a puzzle game that requires you to tap on floating circles to 
make them grow. The numeric value of the circles must add up to 100, 
hence the name. If you want something a little more action-oriented, 
there's Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor. In this title you play as a 
spider spinning webs in an abandoned mansion to catch food and discover 
secrets. Then there's Desert Bus, which simulates the 8-hour drive from 
LA to Las Vegas – yes, really. It's kind of a joke, but all the proceeds
 from this game go to charity. </div>

If you haven't gotten in on the bundle yet, and you want all nine

you swipe from the edge, not just in the main app UI. The channels and <em>My Subscriptions </em>also have a new tabbed interface.</div>

When a new version of Android drops, it's 
Nexus this and Google Play that. But for a lot of advanced users 
(especially those who don't have the choice to go Nexus), custom ROMs 
are their first taste of the latest and greatest. In the tradition of 
independent developers and tinkerers delivering the goods, the 
relatively new OmniROM team has released nightly KitKat builds for <a class="external" href="http://omnirom.org/general/well-what-do-we-have-here/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">no less than fifteen devices</a>.

If you haven't heard of OmniROM, it's a new family of custom 
ROMs that's quickly gaining steam among Android power users and 
enthusiasts. Well-known developers Chainfire, Dees_Troy, and Xplodwild 
are on the dev team, and they aim to offer both a solid, compatible ROM 
and a host of custom features that aren't available on stock or AOSP 
builds. They're also striving to deliver nightly builds that are stable 
enough for end users to rely upon during the day, and they encourage bug
 reports (even on nightlies) to foster a more active community. </div>

OmniROM also has unique features like flippable quick settings, 
multi-window and multi-workspace modes, and various visual tweaks 
available to end users. <a class="external" href="https://www.blogger.com/null" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">New features for the Android 4.4 build</a>
 include a more discreet, non-obtrusive call notification, virtual 
stereo widening and a Bass Boost center frequency setting in DSP 
Manager, and per-app permission control in the Settings menu. </div>

 least three or four nightly builds posted, and some have over a week of
