Race Illegal: High Speed 3D
Today's roundup is presented by Race Illegal: High Speed 3D from HeroCraft. HeroCraft's latest racer seems to take its inspiration from that arcade staple, Cruis'n USA. It's got the same exaggerated car designs, the same cartoony physics, and the same focus on speed above all else. But it's also deeper than your standard arcade racer, with tuning and customization, an online leaderboard, and even a an integrated story mode.
The smell of freshly burnt rubber on tarmac, the feel of the soft leather in your hands, the sound of engines roaring and crowds cheering, open your eyes and experience racing in its purest form, get ready to take to the streets in Race Illegal. Finally the true street racing experience has arrived on your phone. Starting your career as a rookie; you need to earn respect out there before you can challenge the best, work your way through an intense and engaging storyline to prove yourself top dog.

Unique graphics and an endlessly replayable premise keep Ridiculous Fishing interesting, and no in-app purchases means that you can play forever without spending another dime.

Android Police coverage: [New Game] The Staggeringly Beautiful Side-Scrolling Action Game Badland Comes To Android
There's not a lot of game in Badland - you move around, you solve a few puzzles, you flap your way through the levels. That's about it. But Badland is just staggeringly beautiful, pushing 2D sprite graphics to the absolute limit of artistry and detail. True, the abstract game uses the somewhat tired silhouette foreground trope, but you'll be hard-pressed to fault it when you get an eyeful of the background. If you're tired of 8-bit this and old-school that, you owe it to yourself to check this game out.
BADLAND is an award-winning atmospheric sidescrolling action adventure platformer taking place in a gorgeous forest full of various inhabitants, trees and flowers. Although the forest looks like it’s from some beautiful fairytale, there seems to be something terribly wrong. The player controls one of the forest’s inhabitants to discover what’s going on. Through his journey he discovers astonishing amount of imaginative traps and obstacles.
Android Police coverage: [New Game] Sega Releases Sonic Dash For Android, An Endless Runner With The Perfect Protagonist
How in the world has it taken so long for SEGA to release an endless runner game staring the world's fastest hedgehog? Well technically it hasn't: Sonic Dash has been available on iOS for about nine months, and even Sonic's speed shoes couldn't get him here any faster. We'll forgive SEGA for the slight, thanks to fast gameplay, unique dodging elements, and surprisingly great graphics - seriously, this game looks like it would be at home on the Wii. Bosses, familiar characters, and power-ups await... as do the usual in-app purchases and social add-ons.
How far can the world’s fastest hedgehog run? Play as Sonic the Hedgehog as you dash, jump and spin your way across stunning 3D environments. Swipe your way over and under challenging obstacles in this fast and frenzied endless running game. The world famous Sonic the Hedgehog stars in his first endless running game – how far can you go? Unleash Sonic’s incredible dash move that allows you to run at insane speed and destroy everything in your path.
Assassin's Creed Pirates
Android Police coverage: [New Game] Assassin's Creed Pirates Sails Into Google Play On Schedule With A Shipment Of Real-Time Naval Combat
By all accounts, the ship combat in Assassin's Creed III and IV is one of the highlights of the latter games, so it makes sense that this section of the series has been encapsulated for the mobile games. You won't find much stabbing or sneaking in this one, but there's plenty of real-time strategic navel warfare. Broadsides, mainsails, all that jazz. After making pulp out of your nautical enemies you can buy new ships or upgrade the ones you've got. You don't need a console or PC version of the game to play, either... but you do need five bucks.
Become one of the most feared pirates of the Caribbean in this exclusive Assassin's Creed adventure on smartphones and tablets. Play as Alonzo Batilla, a young and ambitious captain, a pirate eager to take on the fiercest of enemies... Break all the rules, challenge empires and make your own fortune. Fight in real-time naval battles all over the Caribbean Sea. Choose from a wide range of weapons to destroy your enemies and become a true pirate legend.
Heroes of Dragon Age
Android Police coverage: [New Game] EA Releases Heroes Of Dragon Age, A Multiplayer Squad-Based Tactics Game With Hundreds Of Collectible Characters
Dragon Age is a beloved postmodern RPG that thrives on furious real-time combat. So naturally for the franchise's mobile debut, EA went with... a turn-based collectible card game? Yeah, so this is basically a really well-done version of the Yu-Gi-Oh style games that are all over Android and iOS, tuned for multiplayer combat and a double currency IAP system. If you're looking for the rich story of the BioWare games, look elsewhere. Here's the international version.
COLLECT THE HEROES. BECOME A LEGEND. Build a party of famous warriors and epic monsters from Dragon Age lore. Battle other players in strategic, CCG-inspired 3D combat. Fight bosses on engaging quests from the award-winning, dark fantasy RPG games. Heroes of Dragon Age is a highly detailed game of superior quality. Please make sure you have at least 480MB of free space on your device for installation. To speed things up, please connect to a WiFi network.
Double Dragon Trilogy
Android Police coverage: [New Game] DotEmu's Double Dragon Trilogy Hits Android With Mobile-Optimized Gameplay, A Remastered Soundtrack, And More
If you don't know Double Dragon, you need to find the DeLorean and head back to 1987 for a bit of gaming education. DotEmu is doing what they do best with a faithful port of not one, not two, but three of the timeless side-scrolling beat-em-ups, complete with multiple difficulties, external controller support, and multiplayer... even if it is just local. If you want a trip back through time to the roots of the genre, three bucks is a steal for Double Dragon Trilogy.
A groundbreaking, uber-popular game upon its arcade debut in 1987, Double Dragon is the undisputed godfather of co-op beat ‘em all. Enter Double Dragon Trilogy, a compilation specially optimized for mobiles and which includes all three installments of the beloved arcade series: Double Dragon, Double Dragon 2: The Revenge, and Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone. The first one begins with Billy and his brother Jimmy, two martial arts experts, in a mission to rescue Billy's girlfriend, Marian, who’s been kidnapped by the Black Shadows Gang.
Android Police coverage: [New Game] Dokuro Is A Platformer About An Animated Skeleton, A Princess, And Charcoal
Dokuro is yet another pilgrim from PlayStation Land, this time coming from the PSP Vita. It's an interesting platformer, not only because it's got an escort element (which isn't as awful as it sounds, I promise) but because the skeleton protagonist can shift between living and dead forms. Each form has strengths and weaknesses, and you'll need both to be effective. Come for the combat and puzzles, stay for the unique blackboard visuals.
Arise, lowly skeleton, and rescue the Princess from the Dark Lord's castle. You are a nameless skeleton in the Dark Lord's army. After a chance encounter with the Princess, who was abducted to become the dreaded Dark Lord's wife, you found yourself setting her free. Guide the Princess from the shadows in Skeleton Form, switching to Hero Form when it's time to mount a gallant offense. Can you spring the Princess from the castle?
Clash of Puppets
Android Police coverage: [New Game] Hack, Jump, Slash, And Repeat In The Latest Release From Crescent Moon Games 'Clash Of Puppets'
Crescent Moon publishes consistently tight games, and Clash Of Puppets is no different. The game is a top-down brawler with melee and ranged attacks, with a liberal amount of platforming thrown in for good measure. A unique art style (I don't want to say "Steampunk," so I guess "Victorian chic" would be appropriate?) and a variety of alien enemies should keep things interesting. The game also comes pre-loaded with MOGA controls - nice.
Clash of Puppets is now MOGA Enhanced. Available at major retailers, carrier stores and online at http://www.MOGAanywhere.com. Help Charlie getting out of his own nightmares. Clash of Puppets is a full 3D hack'n'slash platformer, featuring classic b-movie style. Adventure through 3 worlds of frantic levels. Use tons of devastating weapons and traps against hordes of puppets.
Android Police coverage: [New Game] Ravenmark: Mercenaries Drops Into The Play Store With Seriously Strategic Turn-Based Combat
Looking for some turn-based combat that will leave you satisfied, scratching your head, or swearing at your phone like an old world general? Then Ravenmark might hit your critical zone. The tactical action follows in the footsteps of other turn-based strategy games, but brings it to a much larger level, encouraging players to unleash entire armies at once. The game is definitely tuned towards multiplayer, but there's also a rich single-player campaign.
Build your mercenary army and raise your banner to epic heights in a broken, ravaged world. Wage head-to-head battles against other players in the finest turn-based strategy wargame, RAVENMARK: Mercenaries. Mercenaries delivers an evolution of the turn-based strategy mechanics that won critics over in the original 2011 wargame, RAVENMARK: Scourge of Estellion. Mull over strategic troop placement in the Command Phase, before committing your orders into the “we-go” Battle Phase where friend and foe move and attack in the same phase.
Android Police coverage: [New Game] Chillingo's Dead Ahead Shambles Into Google Play To Take A Bite Out Of Your Free Time
Zombies and endless running (or in this case driving). Yes, it's been done before, but as in all things it gets more interesting when you add guns. These zombies are decidedly modern when it comes to speed, and you'll need to both run and gun to survive them. It's kind of like the vehicle segments from the old Battletoads titles, albeit in reverse. Impressive 2D graphics are the icing on the undead cake.
From the creators of Parking Mania comes a game with a little more bite. The Dead are coming for you, it’s time to find a ride and drive for your life. With the relentless zombie hordes hot on your heels and hungry for flesh, can you fend them off whilst keeping your eyes on the road? Swerve between abandoned cars, plough through undead crowds and when the dead get too close, get trigger-happy. Visit the Garage to upgrade your ride and your firearms to keep ahead of your pursuers.
Android Police coverage: [New Game] Knightmare Tower Launches Up From Ouya And Smashes Into The Play Store
Previously an Ouya exclusive, Knightmare Tower is a strange mix of the jumping/falling games that have recently become popular and touch-based slashers like Fruit Ninja. The premise is that you're a knight who blasts through a tower with a medieval rocket, then slashes the crap out of all the bad guys floating in the chaos before grabbing the princess. Not the most, uh, plausible game, but certainly an enjoyable one. 70 levels and a handful of bosses will keep you pleasantly diverted.
Break through ceilings, rescue princesses and escape boiling lava as you slash your way to the top of the Knightmare Tower.
- Campaign and Survival modes
- 10 princesses to rescue, all daughters of the same King (yeah, even that last one)
- Tons of upgrades, including visually changing armors, swords and boots
- 70 quests to complete
- 50+ different monsters to slice up
- 3 legendary monsters that can be summoned with special horns
- Giant bombs that blow apart every monsters around you
Warlords RTS: Strategy Game
Android Police coverage: [New Game] Armor Games Mixes Old-School RPG And RTS Elements With Warlords
We're getting more and more real-time strategy games on Android, and if you prefer yours with a dash of RPG, Warlords might be right up your alley. It's got the basic base building, resource gathering, and troop commanding elements you're familiar with, plus a few hero units thrown in. You can level these guys up to turn them into Tolkien-style badasses. A lack of multiplayer is a major let-down, though.
Warlords RTS is a real-time strategy game set in the fantasy world Aldfarne. Upgrade your army, boost your Warlord with magic items and lead your troops to victory. Enjoy hours of gameplay and dare to play Hardcore difficulty mode. On your journey to defeat fierce enemy bosses, you'll face various challenges requiring your strategic and cunning tactics in order to triumph over the land. Choose your army carefully, as each unit has very different abilities and gameplay will vary dramatically upon these choices.
Doctor Who: Legacy
Android Police coverage: [New Game] The BBC's Doctor Who: Legacy Comes To Android With Fun That's Bigger On The Inside
What's more zany and epic than The Doctor? How about a puzzle game starring everyone's favorite Time Lord, in a variety of incarnations. I'm no Whovian, but if you are, you should be able to find more than a few familiar Doctors and companions scattered around the app, not to mention some of the show's iconic villains. Underneath it's basically a Puzzle Quest imitation, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
For the first time ever, interact with fifty years of Doctor Who as you travel through time and space, relive his most daring adventures, group with his bravest companions and face his most dangerous foes. An old enemy is traveling through time, changing events to bring about the ultimate war. Team up with your favorite Doctor and head back through time - revisit your favorite episodes from the TV series and build a team of your favorite companions and allies including Clara, Rory, Amy, River, and dozens more.
Wrath of Psychobos - Ben 10
Android Police coverage: [New Game] Cartoon Network's 'Wrath Of Psychobos - Ben 10' Morphs Into A Portable Adventure Now Available For Android
The gist of the Ben 10 series seems ripe for video game exploitation: a teenager with a magic watch that turns him into various alien monsters. And indeed, that premise is pretty much all you need for a solid game, or at least the start of one, but Cartoon Network went further. You'll control both Ben and Rook (whom I assume is a major character) in 31 levels of isometric battle. The game is obviously geared towards kids, but there are certainly worse licensed games they could be playing.
Use Ben's alien powers and Rook's Proto-Tool weapons to take down the evil genius Dr. Psychobos in a GIGANTIC BEN 10 ADVENTURE. Explore the galaxy and battle tons of bad guys in Wrath of Psychobos. Control both Ben and Rook, using their complementary abilities to conquer any and all challenges. Unlock powerful new alien forms for Ben, including Cannonbolt, Armodrillo, Rath, Bloxx, Eye Guy, Shocksquatch, Arctiguana and others.
MLB.com Franchise MVP
Android Police coverage: [New Game] MLB Releases Franchise MVP, Empowers You To Fulfill Your Dream Of Being The Best Player On A Major League Team
RPGs and sports games are strange bedfellows, but the combination seems to be getting more popular lately... if only so that the latter can be more easily shoehorned into a freemium model. Now the MLB itself is getting in on the act, abandoning the pretense of team versus team and instead casting you as a single player trying to make his big league mark. The game features all the MLB teams, swipe-based controls, and of course, in-app purchases.
Do you have what it takes to become an MLB.com Franchise MVP? Join your favorite MLB team and follow your dream from the Minors to the Majors. Can you take your team to the World Series and beyond? MLB.com Franchise MVP is the only baseball game on Google Play with 120 REAL TEAMS including Class A, Double-A, Triple-A and Major Leagues. An Official Game of Major League Baseball Advanced Media. Build your skills, master any position on the field and reach success. Equip your player with the best gear, boosts and train him up.
Survival horror games are a bit under-represented on Android, but Dark Project seems to hit all the high points of the genre. A nebulous and often unseen enemy? Check. Claustrophobic, oppressive, dark environments? Check. It borrows liberally from science fiction and top-down shooters, but if you're looking for a bit of creepy with your action gaming, this would seem to be a great choice. As the description says, playing with headphones and in the dark is recommended.
Play a star trooper sent to investigate the disappearance of a research team sent to the planet Deltora to determine the possibility of the planet being inhabitable. Upon you're arrival, you soon learn that something has gone horribly wrong and need to face the darkness equipped with weapons and your trusty flashlight and search for the team fighting off mutants and zombies.
- 11 Levels of mayhem and darkness.
- Investigate the inner workings of the Deltora complex.
- 5 Different weapons to master.
- Collect weapons or purchase them from in game kiosks with credits.
- Exterminate monsters with varying degrees of difficulty.
A unique premise can go a long way, and that's why this endless runner set in a particle accelerator is in this list. You play a tiny man who, for some reason, is trying to find particles at faster and faster speeds. Simple but attractive 3D graphics and a breakneck pace should please anyone who enjoys a challenge, and physics enthusiasts will get a kick out of the kooky story. The game costs two bucks on Android, but you can download it on Windows, Mac, or Linux for free.
Quantum jump from Planck to Planck and reach critical velocity in Boson X, a rotational runner from Mu & Heyo. Build up speed inside a massive particle accelerator and generate high-energy collisions to discover strange new particles. Use precise timing and fast reflexes to navigate a subatomic world where floors and ceilings don't exist. Will you be fast enough to find the elusive Boson X?
Island of the Lizard King
Tin Man Games is here to make game books and chew bubblegum... and they're all out of bubblegum. The latest entry in this developer's ever-expanding (if somewhat one-dimensional) arsenal is Island Of The Lizard King, a swashbuckling tale that presumably includes both lizards and kings. Mixing Dungeons and Dragons play mechanics and Choose Your Own Adventure storytelling, the app is pricey at six bucks or one doubloon.
The world famous Fighting Fantasy interactive gamebook series continues. Ian Livingstone and Tin Man Games present Island of the Lizard King. You can relive the adventures on Fire Island on your phone or tablet, lovingly updated for digital devices. Presented in full colour with realistic physics-based dice rolling for battles, auto-mapping, an auto-updated adventure sheet and stat keeping.
It's going to take a lot to convince me that Little Inferno isn't actively encouraging kids to play with fire. You buy toys, then you burn them in a chimney. That's literally it. Ostensibly a sandbox physics game, the fun comes in seeing how the different objects go up in flames. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
Little Inferno is an unordinary game, filled with surprise and wonder, and even better the less you know before playing. Congratulations on your new Little Inferno Entertainment Fireplace. Throw your toys into your fire, and play with them as they burn. Stay warm in there. It's getting cold outside. Burn flaming logs, screaming robots, credit cards, batteries, exploding fish, unstable nuclear devices, and tiny galaxies.
If Portal and an endless runner had a baby, it would be Chillingo's Rock Runners. And that includes Portal's excellent physics - you're going to have to use gravity and momentum in this game to reach the end of the sci-fi platforming levels. It's not just a one trick pony, either, as demonstrated by creative use of swinging ledges and twitchy jumps. Graphics and sound look great, and there is a lot of personality in the characters and environments. International readers, here's the "rest of world" version.
Take control of an energetic, running, jumping, swinging runner in this hugely entertaining action platform game. Leap across puddles of radioactive goo, swing over gaps using your light-beam grapple, and zip through portals on your way to completing each stage. Sprint through over 140 levels, each one with it's own set of challenges to accomplish. Collect gems to unlock upgrades and new playable characters!
Runes of War
Sometimes I wish Kairosoft would break their city builder/RPG titles out of the pixelated niche, and if they did, that game might look like Runes of War. This stylish 2D game combines elements from the aforementioned Kairosoft games to become a mix of Civilization and a turn-based RPG, with the added kink of online multiplayer thrown in for good measure. The online component is the clear star here - Runes of War even has a basic guild and communication system built in. But as always with free-to-play multiplayer games, beware of the IAP menace.
A Strategy Builder Multiplayer Game set in the romance of the Medieval age! Rule as Lord of your city, recruiting Knights to battle, managing your serfs to gather resources, and build your city into a bastion of strength and hope. Carefully allocate resources to feed and grow your city, forge great treasures, strategically make and break alliances, develop your knowledge of ancient magic. Prevail in the ultimate goal to overthrow the Dark Knight and his Dragons, and establish a noble and tranquil Camelot in a sea of turmoil.
Our zombie-free roundups earlier in the year were a short-lived repose. Now it's right back to zombified versions of well-established games, and this week, it's iBomber. The same familiar tap-and-boom controls are in place, though you do get to command different kinds of units in an endless battle against the undead. The game is heavily slanted towards in-app purchases, but at least it uses Google Play Games for leaderboards and achievements.
The world has fallen into darkness and is overrun by the walking dead. You are humanity's last hope in defending the remaining bases against the oncoming zombie hordes. In Zombie Blitz you take control of an entire air force. Use simple touch gestures to start bomb drops, airstrikes and helicopter attacks, or to position mines and bait. 11 different weapons can be unlocked to defend your bases in this action-driven tower-defense game. Upgrade your weapons to your liking, for instance, by increasing the impact range, or improve your chances by using infrared vision.
Crazy Horses: Unstabled!
This game looks like someone tried to clone My Little Pony while high. The object is to steer or herd your horses away from objectionable bulls. When they hit the bulls, the horses explode, which seems like a bit of a stretch. They also explode if they're hit by a tornado, train, or bomb, which seems far more likely. Sickeningly cute graphics and sound effects accompany a pretty straightforward game which should please fans of the various air traffic control titles out there.
The Crazy Horses have bolted from the stable! Round them up and herd them back before their arch-enemies the Bullies skewer, flatten or blow them up!
- Gorgeous 3D cartoon graphics
- Cute and funny characters
- Power-ups and items galore
- Frantic lassoing action
- Awesome unicorns!!!
Ski Challenge 14
With the Winter Olympics only a few months away, you can expect to see the Play Store flooded with winter-themed sports titles very soon. The first of these is Ski Challenge 14, and while it's certainly a free-to-play cash in, the graphics and gameplay look like they're worthy of attention. According to the description, the ski runs are based on real runs from pro ski events, including Sochi. The developers plan to hold regular weekend events (or at least achievements connected to online leaderboards).
Enjoy a little suspense, action and thrills? Then Ski Challenge 14 is right for you! The rapid 3D ski simulations game offers exciting races and spectacular downhill runs this winter. FOR FREE! Experience exciting events and fly down the slope at 130 km/h - your new personal best is within reach. Customize your skier and make your own individual outfit to make yourself stand out! Various control options, training mode, helmet camera for that realistic skiing experience, replay mode, and much more await you.
Sports Car Challenge 2
Technically this is a sequel to Fishlabs' original Sports Car Challenge. I say technically, because it's got exactly the same cars, tracks, and features - we honestly can't tell if this is a new game or just a re-submitted copy. (It crashes on my daily driver phone, if you're wondering.) In either case, it's a free download, so give it a chance if you want to test-drive a Bugatti against a ghost driver.
High-end racing on mobile enters the next round with Sports Car Challenge 2 by Volkswagen Group (China) and Fishlabs. Drive a total of 14 exclusive super cars by international top-brands such as Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche and Volkswagen. Enjoy photo-realistic 3D graphics and spectacular attention to detail. Show your skills on the asphalt in three ambitious game modes and make your way to the top of the global leader boards. Fill your trophy room with the rewards from dozens of challenging achievements!
If you're in the mood for naval combat without all the pomp and circumstance, Battleship 2 might be right up your channel. It's relatively simple as mobile games go, though it adds a few dimensions to the classic Battleship formula that the board game doesn't have, including air units, mines, and other goodies. Graphics are simple, but battle options are robust, with AI, local multiplayer, and online bouts available to the player.
Battleship 2 is a board game everybody loves since childhood but with new options. Online multiplayer. Fight against the players from all over the world. You have a wide arsenal in your disposal: battleships, destroyers, bombers, mines, anti-aircraft defense, radars and other stuff. Place your ships of different size on the battlefield, launch the aircraft for massive bombshells and try to sink the rival ships. By combining different positioning of your ships, aircraft, anti-aircraft defense and mines you can develop your own strategy for the game and leave no chances for your opponents.
Papa Pear Saga
A sickeningly cute presentation goes well with puzzle games, and that holds true for Papa Pear Saga. Mixing elements of old-fashioned Pachinko and Angry Birds, you'll need both skill and luck to get through over a hundred levels. If you're low on either (or both), the game will try to upsell you some extra lives and fancy moves via in-app purchases. Still, for a time-killer you could do much worse.
Take aim and unleash Papa Pear to bounce and boing his way through the wonderfully wacky levels of this unique puzzle game. Please note Papa Pear Saga is completely free to play but some in-game items such as extra moves or lives will require payment. Join Papa Pear on a journey through more than 100 levels filled with fruity pegs, hazelnuts and crazy chillies. Exciting adventures await you in the Fruity Forest, the Great Pearamids and beyond.
If you combine the basics of Dig Dug and the free-tapping gameplay of the Where's My Water series, you might get something very much like Micro Miners. Noodlecake's latest game has you both digging and filling in various kinds of earth in order to guide your miners to different payloads. You'll have to hit all of them to win, and the screen continually scrolls, keeping fans of twitch games happy. Visuals are typically pixelated, but the production looks like it's as solid as ever.
Use your finger as a pickaxe, dig tunnels and guide the Micro Miners to the Gold, Silver and Coal deposits. Where's my lemmings? Microminers is an arcade-puzzler which revolves around the control of a vast horde of tiny miners. The screen is constantly scrolling downward, and it’s your job to collect all the available deposits of gold, silver, and coal that you see. Any missed resource represents a strike, and the level is considered failed if you miss three chances to collect.
DubSlider: Warped Dubstep
Do you like dubstep? Do you like rhythm games? Then grab your glow-sticks and hide the goods, and go download DubSlider. It's your basic tunnel runner game with dubstep music and the kind of psychedelic graphics that would make the visualizer from Windows Media Player green with envy. Best of all, there are no ads or in-app purchases.
Let's slide through the dubstep funnel! This is an indie rhythm-based musical arcade game, where you control the dub-trap and catch the rhythm orbs on your way. More orbs means more score points. That's it. No ADS and no In-App purchases ever for all of our games!
Vacation Vexation (Free)
Nostalgic Software certainly lives up to its name: old-school adventure titles are the developer's bread and butter. But it looks like they're branching out in Vacation Vexation (great title!), an adventure game set on a beachfront getaway. Not only do you get the usual story-heavy combine-the-items goodness and Nostalgic's unique brand of humor, but you also get to try your hand at real (er, virtual) games in the in-app arcade. Shenmue fans will feel right at home. The paid app is below, and here's a free demo.

• Classic adventure game fun on your hand-held device.
• Explore a lighthearted and humorous environment.
• Use your wits and a bit of mischief to solve puzzles.

Some of the current crop of indie games really love to deconstruct the conventional ideas of gaming... and don't they just know it. Now we've come full circle, a deconstruction of the deconstruction, with the appropriately-titled Pretentious Game. If you can handle the meta, it's got a lot of recommendations from the usual suspects. Those who can't take a joke (or who need more pomp and circumstance) should look elsewhere.
Have you ever realized how words are important? And how they can drive our emotions? Enjoy the uncluttered and peculiar aesthetics of Pretentious Game and plunge wholeheartedly into a poetic and deep story.
